Realizing Your Fitness Potential

don't just focus on seeing the results you want, it's also about being the best you can be! Many people limit themselves because their judgments are based on what they see in the mirror now rather than what is underneath. They don't look ahead. I believe it was Michelangelo who described what he saw hidden under a marble slab when he envisioned his sculptures. What makes your artwork (your body) different?

Classic conditioning

As you have probably seen, one of the first words spoken repeatedly to a child is "no!" for instance, most of us can sometimes be conditioned by these negative experiences and end up with low expectations of what we can really do. As a result, this often extends to how people view their bodies. To solve this problem, it is wise to take a look at what others have achieved and also take a closer look at the topic itself.

Whether we know it or not, the human body is capable of making massive transformations in a relatively short time. Whether it's muscle growth or weight loss, enough evidence has already been documented to support these claims. The real secret behind this is knowledge. In other words, we need to manage our diet and exercise in an intelligent, prudent, and scientific manner.

Mike Mentzer (Mr. Universe) believed and claimed that an individual could realize his or her genetic potential in one year! While this may seem a bit unreasonable, who can argue with their customers? While it may take more than a year to reach the ultimate plateau of your human existence, I believe it is possible to achieve your goal (s) in a relatively short time.

Roadblocks

The main excuse or reason I often hear that we need to eliminate is, "I was born this way." Although said in many different ways, I think we can all understand the meaning. While the saying "You can't choose your parents" is true, we shouldn't let this stop us. Any person, no matter how poor their genetics, can drastically improve their appearance with the right mental outlook and physical application.

You just need to choose the right kind of diet and workout for your body type. There are generally three body types that a person will have:

1. Mesomorph - describes a person who looks more muscular, even if not training, an athletic type.

2. Ectomorph - this is been characterized by a smaller frame, some would say the naturally thin type.

3. Endomorph - this group is more likely to add body fat.

No one is really one hundred percent of some type, but overweight people tend to lean more towards the endomorph.

This may explain why it is more difficult for some people to lose weight, but it is not impossible. If you understand your body type, you will understand yourself better and you will begin to realize that there is hope. Unless you have a specific medical problem that can be verified by a doctor, I KNOW you can do it! If you've ever been skinny in the past, study photos of yourself and rely on your memory to make an informed estimate of your body type. It is possible for an ectomorph to become overweight, even if it is more difficult. In this particular case, you would lose it more easily.

In a general statement, I would say that we should all work with what has been given to us. There are many stories from individuals and even athletes who were told they couldn't and ultimately exceeded their expectations. No one really knows how far they can go until they have explored it. Once you have set limits for yourself, it becomes your reality.

Think positive

Forget the past! So what if you have tried and failed many times. Sometimes that's what it takes - instinct. People often have to experiment to find out what is good for them and their specific situation, their likes and dislikes, and what they are comfortable with. If you've lost weight in the past but got it back, at least you know it's possible. Study what you did and find out where you went wrong. Investigate, investigate, and then try again. Practice makes perfect!

Even if you take a different approach to your weight loss efforts, just browse magazines or research dieters' personal experiences on the web (see Yahoo> Health> Weight Problems> Weight Loss> Personal Experience). Study their cases, look at their Body Health Fitness articles, see where they may have gone wrong, and see what time frame they did it in. Take notes if you have to. Some of these sites even have diet news that the person wrote down everything they did. Check them out too. Within a few weeks, you can refine your program and see results that you thought were not possible. Believe and achieve!
